There is great news for ham radio enthusiasts in West Bengal. The West Bengal Radio Club, which plays a crucial role in disaster management, has now gained special recognition in the field of research at the national level. On Wednesday, Ambareesh Nag Biswas, the founder and secretary of the club, shared that a research paper written by Suman Patra, Assistant Professor at Women’s Christian College, Kolkata, and PhD scholar in the Journalism and Mass Communication Department at St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata, has been nationally published.

The research paper, titled "Disaster Preparedness and Mitigation through Ham Radio: Opportunities and Scope, A Framework for Bharat Drishti 2047 – A Study of West Bengal," was presented at a conference held at Kurukshetra University, Haryana, on August 29-30, 2024. The conference was organized in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). After being selected at the conference, the research was also published in the Indian Economic Journal.

The study provides an in-depth analysis of the active role of the West Bengal Radio Club in disaster management, its future potential, and the various ways ham radio can serve society. The research prominently highlights the efforts, experiences, and vision of the club under the leadership of Ambareesh Nag Biswas.

Expressing his happiness and pride, Ambareesh Nag Biswas stated that this is a moment of great joy for everyone, as it is the first time that such a study has been conducted on the role of West Bengal in the field of ham radio and disaster management. He extended his gratitude to all radio enthusiasts and supporters for their contributions to this success.
